Our Story

History of “Strictly Grooming 4 Paws"

In 2005 Neisha Henderson decided to have a change of career (from Hospitality) and made the decision to become a “Dog Groomer”.  Having always had animals and a love of dogs especially, she trained under Suzette Woodruff (Vet Nurse, Breeder of Yorkshire Terriers, Master Groomer and Grooming Teacher in Brisbane) for her qualifications (Dip. Dog Grooming).

Neisha began her grooming career in Brisbane working in one of Suzette’s salons.  In 2006, moving to Hervey Bay, she set up a salon at her residence.  During this period, Nicole had been doing her theoretical education in grooming for 18 months in Brisbane prior to starting her practical education and was trained in the Bay by Neisha in early 2008.  Late in 2008, Neisha decided to take a break, furthering her education back in Brisbane and contracted dog grooming at various vet clinics whilst studying.  On completion of this education, she returned to the Bay where she and her sister Nicole started a family business.

The opening of Strictly Grooming 4 Paws in a salon at Unit 1, 61 Main Street, Pialba was in January 2010, after a full renovation of the premises.  All grooming and training for the salon is underwritten by Vanessa Parsons of Country Canines Grooming Salon at the Gold Coast, Queensland.  Vanessa is a Master Groomer, championship winner and Master Groomer Assessor for "International Professional Groomers (IPG)" located in the United States.

In March 2011, Neisha travelled to NZ, again to further education and contract grooming.  Nicole has now become the head groomer and manager at Strictly Grooming 4 Paws.

In 2013 Neisha returned to Australia and joined Nicole to sit exams (both practical and theory) set out by IPG (International Professional Groomers - Located in Oregon, USA) overseen by IPG Assessor Vanessa Parsons.  Both received certifications in various classes.  They both continue to study and have only one remaining module to complete and pass, thereby certifying them as IPG Masters.

We Specialise in animals who have medical conditions or are just afraid of being groomed.  In the past we have had many 'furry friend' visit us for the first time a little unsure of what to expect.  We always make our furry clients feel comfortable and take that extra special care with the one's who just haven't got to know us yet!

They soon get to know that we are a good place to visit as they get lots of massages & plenty of treats!  Not to mention go home feeling great with a new "Furr Do!"

Standards in Grooming.  After submitting a proposal and petition (with over 1,000 signatures)  to the Queensland Government, the Queensland Government ruled it will not be bringing in Standards for Dog Grooming and Grooming Salons. Strictly Grooming 4 Paws continues to adhere to standards as set down by NSW .  Please be aware that there are individuals who think that they can pick up a pair of clippers or scissors and claim that they are a groomer.  This is simply not the case.
